Employing good talent is the number one challenge that CTO’s are having, with a whopping 53.33% saying it’s their number one challenge. Reducing the cost of development, platform maintenance costs, and supporting the chosen technology came closely after.
Diving deeper into the specific challenges within the product/solution, we found that the biggest roadblock lies in improving the user experience of the solution, with a grandiose 66.67% of CTO’s said that this was their number one challenge. Upgrading the technology stack and improving the scalability of the solution followed closely, with improving the code quality being the least worrisome.
Security within a solution is of course extremely important for the user, especially nowadays with GDPR closely monitored. It won’t come as a surprise, then, that complying with security standards is the biggest worry to CTO’s, with 28% saying this. 27% say that preventing a data breach is what’s on their mind and 24% say that avoiding GDPR violation is their biggest challenge.
Finally, talking to CTO’s every day, we’ve heard that maintaining the systems is something that’s extremely time consuming and difficult to manage.
